Kids Summer Lunch started in 2004 with the goal to nourish children during the summer months. When the program first started, 57 children were enrolled and we offered lunches under a tent outside the Manchester Town Hall. Fast forward to this year: Our roster is now more than 200 children and we work out of the Manchester Fire House, providing lunches to children living in Dorset, Danby, Rupert, Pawlet, and Manchester. 

Each week, participating families receive a bag of groceries along with milk and egg gift cards from Stewart's Shops and an occasional ice cream and gas card. We also supply fresh fruit weekly from Black River Produce and blueberries from Smokey House. 

In addition to the summer lunch program, we provide gift cards for Thanksgiving and the February and April vacation weeks. We also fund Weekend Food Backpacks throughout the school year.​​

DONATIONS

We receive no federal or state funding and we estimate that it will cost $400 to feed each child for 10 weeks this summer. To feed 225 children this summer, we need to raise $90,000. If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to support our work, please mail your check to:
